Red Sox player to lead baseball clinic for youths in Melrose

Boston Red Sox outfielder Daniel Nava is coming to Melrose to hold an instructional baseball clinic for youths ages 6-14. The Daniel Nava Baseball Clinic is scheduled for July 24 at the Melrose High School athletic fields.

Nava will be on site to direct clinic activities, provide instruction and give lectures on the Morelli Baseball Fred Green Field, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., highlighting the finer points of the game of baseball and beyond. Cost: $89.

Nava will also be accompanied by some of the area?s best high school and college coaches, who will run various stations and drills, specializing in the fundamental skills of baseball. Individual groups will be small to assure that each participant gets maximum instruction from these coaches.

To register visit the Melrose Recreation Department website at cityofmelrose.org/dept_recreation.cfm. In the event of heavy rain or inclement weather, the clinic will be moved to a nearby indoor facility, Marcoux High School Gym.
