NWS: Tornado Confirmed in Western Allegany County From Friday's Outbreak

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Last Friday's severe weather outbreak left a lot of damage behind, all across the region, and now the National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado in Allegany County, MD.

According to the National Weather Service in Sterling, Virginia, the tornado occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. last Friday night, about 2 miles to the west southwest of Bellegrove, near the intersection of Orleans Road NE and Turkey Farm Road.

The tornado has been rated an EF-1 with winds between 86-110 MPH.? National Weather Service damage assessment teams say that the tornado was on the ground for just over 1 mile, and snapped numerous hardwood trees and even uprooted a few, but luckily there was no structural damage.

This brings the total tornadoes from last Friday's severe weather outbreak up to 12 tornadoes, all being rated EF-0 or EF-1.

• Allegany County - 1 Tornado (EF-1)
• Montgomery County - 3 Tornadoes (EF-0)
• Carroll County - 2 Tornadoes (EF-0 and EF-1)
• Howard County - 2 Tornadoes (EF-0 and EF-1)
• Prince Georges County - 1 Tornado (EF-0)
• Harford County - 1 Tornado (EF-1)
• Anne Arundel County - 1 Tornado (EF-0)
• Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) - 1 Tornado - No rating at this time; Airport Tower Personnel confirm a tornado was spotted inside the airport perimeter with some debris left behind.
