Apple Store opening in London, Ontario on June 23rd

Apple will open another retail location in Canada this weekend. Those in London, Ontario will be warmly greeted with the usual Apple aura: balloons, free t-shirts and an ample amount of Apple products to peruse ? such as the iPhone 4S and the iPad. According to Apple?s website they plan on opening the Masonville location (1680 Richmond Street North) at 10:00am sharp. This will be the 23rd Apple Store in Canada.

Eurozone countries slowly reaching accord on tackling debt crisis, says George Osborne

"I think one thing we have learnt is: don't expect a single summit to solve the eurozone's problems, otherwise you are going to be disappointed," he said.

"I am not claiming that this summit has solved those problems but the eurozone is inching towards solutions."

No details of a possible scheme were available but it is thought that eurozone countries are considering using injections of funds through the European Central Bank or the single currency bailout mechanisms to shore up weaker countries like Greece and Spain.

Massive pressure has been placed on the EU members of the G20 in Los Cabos, particularly Germany, to take further action, after markets failed to respond to the recapitalisation of Spanish banks and the election of pro-bailout parties in Greece.

The resources would be designed to spread the risk of debt between the 17-nation euro bloc, and reduce the high interest rates on government bonds which have made it difficult for Athens, Madrid and Rome to service their debts.

A planned meeting between US President Barack Obama and the leaders of Germany, Italy, France and Spain, as well as Prime Minister David Cameron, was cancelled last night after the Americans decided enough progress was made in direct talks between Mr Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel earlier in the day.

Mr Osborne said: "There is no doubt that the problems now are in the eurozone but what the G20 can do is put pressure on the eurozone to fix those problems, add to the pressure that was already there. And it can take measures to prevent these problems spilling over even more than they are into the rest of the world economy, for example by resisting protectionist measures which some countries want to introduce."

theGrio: Why does rap fetishize white women?

By the time I was 11 years old my next-door neighbor, who was a few years older than me, had given me Nas? 1996 It Was Written album. Knowing that the explicit content would send my mom in a fury if she found it, I insisted she keep it, but she refused to take it back. Frightened, I sneaked it into our two bedroom apartment to add to the rest of my mostly R&B music collection. When I eventually popped it in to my CD player, I was in awe. It was that moment I fell in love with Nas? music ? and more in love with hip-hop.?That was 16 years ago.

For so many in my generation, hip-hop has served as the backdrop to our childhoods. Its appeal was not only the heart-pounding thump of the beats, or the coolness of the women and men rapping. Finally it seemed like someone was telling our story. Rap music spoke our language in a way nothing else did. It was the true essence of giving the voiceless a voice.

Since then, feminism has changed my relationship with my beloved hip-hop. As much as I love it, I hate how it treats women. Hip-hop and black women have an abusive relationship in a sense. Its lyrics advocate violence and sexual assault against women; and it often reduces us to gold-digging ?hoes? unworthy of respect.

As I plow through Tom Burrell?s book,?Brainwashed: Challenging the Myth of Black Inferiority, I think about how the black inferiority complex (BIC) plays out in pop culture and music, particularly rap.

One of the things that has become more prevalent in hip-hop is the adoration of white women, juxtaposed with its seeming hatred of black women in rap lyrics. Historically, white women had been off-limits for centuries ? black men were literally lynched; killed for allegedly whistling at white women. Therefore, snagging a white woman was the ultimate slap in the oppressors? face ? ?a ?look, I?ve made it and I have one of your women!? statement of sorts. Now, instead of rappers, en masse, toting white women on their arms, they parade them on wax.

Kanye West, whose music I happen to love dearly, has had a longtime obsession with the white aesthetic. His music tells the story better than I could. Visually, it has played out in his videos for songs like ?Runaway? and ?Monster.? ?Why did all the ballerinas in ?Runaway? have to be white? ?In ?Monster? we see the decapitated heads of white women hanging from ropes and rocking gold teeth. Most telling of his white girl fantasies was his cover art to MBDTF. But Kanye is far from alone in this line of thinking.

McDowell, Furyk face long day at Olympic

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ? Graeme McDowell knows how quickly it all can change on Sunday at the U.S. Open.

McDowell was three shots behind going into the final round at Pebble Beach two years ago when he watched Dustin Johnson hit wedge toward the second green and take five more shots for a triple bogey. Just like that, the lead was gone, and so was Johnson. He closed with an 82.

McDowell was in the final group against this year at The Olympic Club, only he had company. Not only was he tied with Jim Furyk, but 11 others were within four shots of the lead.

"It doesn't feel much different than two years ago," McDowell said Saturday night. "I guess I know what to expect now. That's probably the only difference. Emotionally, I went through the same experience today like I did two years ago. I was anxious and I was nervous. Two years ago, Saturday was a tough day for me. And hopefully tomorrow, I'll know what to expect for the day."

For a U.S. Open, expect anything.

Olympic has no water hazards, one fairway bunker and only two players under par. The bogeys come from getting out of position off the tee and even on the greens. The higher scores come from players unwilling to take their lumps after a poor shot.

History has not been kind to the leaders over the last decade.

Rory McIlroy was different, but he was playing a different kind of U.S. Open at Congressional, which was soft from rain and yielded a record score. Throw out his 69 in the final round, and you have to go all the way back to Tiger Woods at Pebble Beach in 2000 to find a 54-hole leader who broke par.

Aaron Baddeley had a two-shot lead going into the final round at Oakmont. He three-putted from 8 feet for a triple bogey on the opening hole and shot 80. Retief Goosen was going for his third U.S. Open title in five years at Pinehurst in 2005 when he took a three-shot lead into the final round. It was gone in three holes and he shot 81.

Such a closing round would not seem likely for McDowell and Furyk. Not only are they U.S. Open champions (then again, so was Goosen), they have controlled games and toughness that makes them equipped for a fight against par.

"It doesn't have to look or be fancy. It has to work," Furyk said. "And I think we have styles of games where we put the ball into play, we put the ball on the green and take our chance at the putt and then move on."

Even so, McDowell was more interested in looking behind him on the leaderboard instead of ahead to another Sunday celebration.

"It's wide open," he said. "I look at guys a 2- and 3- and 4-over par in this tournament, who I really think have a realistic shot to win," he said. "There's a fine line on this golf course between 67, 68 and 75, 76. There really is. It's a tough course. You've got to execute shots well. You've got to keep the ball on the correct side of the pin. And you've got to play well."

There's an eclectic mix of players in range.

Ernie Els is a three-time major champion. Lee Westwood is desperate for his first. Blake Adams is playing in his first U.S. Open. John Peterson, the NCAA champion from LSU, is a year removed from college. Beau Hossler, the 17-year-old wonder, still has another year of high school. Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium can overpower a golf course. Jason Dufner, a two-time winner this year, prefers to plod his way around.

Not to be entirely overlooked is Tiger Woods, though he has never come from behind ? five shots, in this case ? to win a major.

And then there's the history of Olympic Club, that doesn't bode well for the favorites.

The winners of the four U.S. Opens at Olympic ? Jack Fleck, Billy Casper, Scott Simpson and Lee Janzen ? have a combined seven majors. The guys who finished second to them ? Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Payne Stewart ? collectively won 27 majors.

Perhaps that's why Olympic is known as the "graveyard of champions," that and the fact that Hogan, Palmer and Watson never won another major after their close calls at Olympic. The exception was Stewart, who won the U.S. Open the following year, but then perished in a freak plane crash that fall.

As the third round was headed for a conclusion, McDowell and Furyk showed their mettle by making key pars and a late birdie. Westwood had finished his 67, and then Els came through a 68 to get into the mix.

Suddenly this U.S. Open had its version of Hogan and Watson and Palmer.

But as the possibilities started to expand, that brought forth another question. Who's going to be Jack Fleck?
